Why St. Basil?

St. Basil was bishop of Caesarea in 370-379 AD.

His love for mankind and devotion to those who suffering led him to establish the first orphanages, hospitals and old age homes, as well as many organizations dedicated to alleviate the hardships of many of those less fortunate.

Through these actions, he directed the attention of the community towards those less fortunate amongst them.

In honor of his love and the example of philanthropy, the St. Basil Orphanage Fund was established. This fund provides a secure means through which support of the work of the Philanthropic Society and its many life saving endeavors can continue to flourish.
